Kalamazoo, MI (WKZO) – It’s been a long 5 years since the Broncos had last beat Central Michigan. On Saturday Afternoon that losing streak came to an end as the Broncos rolled over Central 44-14.

Alex Carder had his 5th career 300 yard passing game, as he finished with 355 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Carder also found the end zone with his feet, scoring on a 3 yard run in the 3rd quarter.

Jordan White, matched his career high in receptions with 13 for 177 yards and 2 TDs. He also had a 64 yard punt return which set up the Broncos touchdown pass from Alex Carder to Chleb Ravenell to give the Broncos a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter.

After putting up over 200 yards on the ground last week against Nicholls State, the Broncos running game was held in check, but Antroin Scriven did have a 1 yard touchdown, his 3rd 1 yard score on the season, to give the Broncos a 21-0 lead.

Kicker John Potter was a perfect 3 for 3 at field goal attempts and added 5 extra points as he moved into 2nd place on the all-time Broncos record list for scoring by a kicker.

Johnnie Simon led the defensive with 10 tackles, and Aaron Winchester had 8 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Drew Nowak led the defensive line with 7 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack.

True freshman Devon Brant made his first career start at linebacker and didn’t disappointed. He recovered a fumble in the 2nd quarter, forced by WMU CB Aaron Winchester.

Waldo Stadium saw its largest turnout in over 4 years with 26,674 in attendance.

The Broncos will next take on Illinois, next Saturday in Champaign. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm. The game will air on 96.5FM with the Broncos First Tailgate Show kicking off coverage at 2pm.
