KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- The Kalamazoo Township Board of Trustees has put off a vote on raising taxes two mills to maintain funding for police operations, after receiving considerable public opposition to the idea.
Clerk Donald Thall says cuts in state revenue and local property tax assessments have left them few options.
Citizens packed inMonday night to complain they can’t afford it and should get a chance to vote on the issue.
Trustees decided to prepare information on what will happen if they don’t raise taxes and make the decision at the Sept. 26 meeting.
