CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO) -- The survivor of a violent collision on I-94 near Albion Sunday night has been upgraded to fair condition at Bronson Methodist Hospital.

The Lexus driven by 49-year-old James Nguyen of Fishers, Indiana careened through the median striking an oncoming car.  Nguyen died at the scene of the 10PM collision.  

Kevin Cubitt, 47, of St. Clair Shores, who was in the car Nguyen struck, was taken to Bronson in serious condition but has since improved.

Cable crash barriers that might have prevented the collision are scheduled to be installed along that stretch of the interstate later this year.
