KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- One of Kalamazoo’s most famous and generous small business owners was attacked in her downtown restaurant by two women who refused to pay their Thursday morning breakfast bill.
They ate it all, complained about one item, complained and tried to walk out until Stacy Skartsiaris confronted them. She told them that she would call for police if they did not pay. They struck her and fled. An employee trailed them north and guided Kalamazoo Public Safety officers to them so they could be arrested. Detectives are apparently going over surveillance video of the incident.
Skartsiaris was treated and released and back at work soon after with a few scrapes and bruises.
The two Kalamazoo women were expected to be charged with unarmed robbery, and one has a previous record for assault.
