KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO) -- It wasn't always pretty but the Western Michigan Broncos football team improved to 5-4 on the season with a 45-35 win over the Ball State Cardinals Saturday afternoon. The wild one at Waldo Stadium began with the Broncos building a 35-14 lead late in the 2nd quarter before the Cardinals fought their way back to cut the lead to 7 points at halftime.

The Broncos however never relinquished their lead and John Potter kicked a 40-yard-field goal in the 4th quarter to secure the victory.  Broncos Wide Receiver Jordan White returned to his all-star form catching 9 for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns en route to breaking the career WMU receptions record previously held by Jamarko Simmons.

It wasn't just White however as Chleb Ravenell added 9 catches for 157 yards, Robert Arnheim came down with 8 catches for 104 yards.

Alex Carder threw for 404 yards and 2 touchdowns but struggled with 3 interceptions in the Broncos win.  Up next the Broncos look to become bowl eligable as they travel to Toledo Tuesday November 8th to take on the Rockets at the Glass Bowl.  Listen live on November 8th on 96.5 WKZO-FM or online at wkzo.com.
