Former Health Center Director Convicted of Medicaid Fraud

LANSING (WKZO) -- Saying that the taxpayers are "not an ATM for criminals," Attorney General Bill Schuette announced the conviction of the former head of the Palmer Health Center.

Deborah D'Anna is guilty of 25-counts of Medicaid fraud and one count of racketeering.  After Palmer closed its two Michigan locations in 2005, D'Anna continued to bill Medicaid for more than three-million dollars and pocketed the cash.  Sentencing is scheduled for October 27th.

D'Anna faces up to four years in prison and a fine of 50-thousand dollars for each of the 25 fraud counts, and up to 20-years in prison and a 100-thousand dollar fine for the racketeering charge.
