COLDWATER (WKZO) -- Sturgis Police are investigating a suspected drunken driving incident.
Police responded to a call around 6:00 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. 12 and Big Hill Road.
They say 19-year-old Dawn Wood missed a stop sign at the intersection before the vehicle left the roadway, striking posts around a utility box and finally slamming into a tree.
Passenger 19-year-old Jillian Crist was pronounced dead at the scene while Wood was taken to Bronson Hospital for treatment. She's since been released.
