LANSING (WKZO) -- The Michigan Senate has approved the rest of a package of bills to permit the sale of fireworks that fly and explode and are currently banned here in Michigan.
West Michigan State Senator John Proos said the goal isn’t to bring fireworks into the state - they are already here - the goal is to keep money from flowing to Indiana and Ohio.
This bill is slightly different than the version approved in the house and will have to be reconciled before it goes to the Govenor’s desk.
It describes the kinds of fireworks, imposes a safety fee on those who sell fireworks, requires liability coverage, and sets requirements for the type of structure used for sales.
