ANN ARBOR, MI (WKZO) -- First Period: After ending a record home ice winning streak held by the Wolverines last night, 3-2, the Bronco hockey team was flying high at Yost Arena. After 1 period of hockey tonight, the Broncos find themselves trailing 1-0. The lone goal in the period scored by Michigan's Derek Deblois at the 10:57 mark in the first A couple of late scoring tries by Western Michigan were unsuccessful, the period ended with 8 shots on goal for both teams. At stake tonight, a top spot in the CCHA.
Second Period: Behind a strong offensive showing early in the second period, the Bronco hockey team made up the 1-0 deficit one minute in behind a goal from Chase Balisy. With the score tied 1-1, the Broncos took the lead at the 10:18 mark when Derek Roehl lit the lamp for the Broncos. Skating with a 2-1 lead, the Broncos were outshooting the Wolverines for much of the second, ending the period with a 21-13 edge. Luke Witkowski was called for holding at the 15:15 mark, and the Wolverines took advantage. On the man advantage, Alex Guptil scored for Michigan, knotting things up at Yost 2-2.
