DETROIT (WKZO) -- The manhunt is over for Richard Heeringa.
A Kalamazoo man who spent 12-years in prison for molesting two young girls here, was about to be sentenced for 17 sexual assault counts in Colorado earlier this year when he jumped bail and became the target of a national manhunt, and was even featured on America’s Most Wanted.
Over the weekend he was busted in Detroit. Richard Heeringa, 50, was on the U.S. Marshal’s most wanted list.
A press conference is scheduled in Denver to talk about the case, which went high profile there when the mother of his young victim came forward to talk about how Heeringa groomed her 12-year-old daughter, and then molested her. She wanted to warn others it could happen to them.
