(Lansing, MI) -- Two Detroit-area state lawmakers have introduced a bill to preserve tax credits for movie making in Michigan. Senators Mike Kowall of White Lake Township and Virgil Smith of Detroit are co-sponsoring a bill that would allow the state to award filmmakers tax credits of up to 42 percent for their production expenditures, though most would get from ten to 30 percent. The state Legislature voted last week to eliminate the credits of 42 percent as part of a tax-reform package.
