PARCHMENT -- The city of Parchment has come to a tentative agreement with Kalamazoo Township to provide police protection for the city.
Dennis Durham says over a ten year period, they could save 1.1-million dollars, and get the same patrols with better trained and equipped officers. Three Township officers would be assigned to Parchment, and the city would maintain its substation.
Parchment’s three current full time officers are all taking early retirement this summer, and Durham says its 6 part-timers would no longer be needed, but could apply for the new jobs with the township.
