There Were More Bracket Busters In Last Night’s Sweet Sixteen NCAA Men’s Tournament

by

There will be a new champion in men's college basketball this season. Arizona used a huge second half last night to topple Duke 93-to-77 and knock the defending champion Blue Devils, the top seed in the West, out of the NCAA Tournament.

Fifth-seeded Arizona advances to face Connecticut in the Elite Eight tomorrow after the Huskies last night eliminated San Diego State with U-Conn beating the team of ex-Michigan Coach Steve Fisher by a score of 74-to-67.

In the Southeast Region, Butler's relentless defense tired down the stretch, but by that point the Bulldogs had built a big enough lead to keep another deep March Madness run going with a 61-to-54 victory over Wisconsin. Butler, last year's national runner-up will put a 12-game winning streak on the line in the regional final on Saturday against Florida, an 83-74 overtime winner last night over BYU.

The rest of the Elite Eight field will be determined tonight. In the East regional semi-finals, it’s number one overall top seed Ohio State vs. Kentucky while North Carolina takes on Marquette. And in the Southwest region, top-seed Kansas plays Richmond while VCU takes on Florida State.
