NEW YORK (Reuters) - A New York City woman died on Tuesday after her husband injected her with poison and then killed himself by drinking it, police said.

The case was being investigated as a murder-suicide, police said.

Erlendy Flores, 35, died a day after her 41-year-old husband Flavio Godoy injected her on Monday in the buttock with a syringe containing an unknown poison, police said.

Godoy died almost immediately on Monday after drinking the poisonous substance from a cup, police said.

New York's Office of Chief Medical Examiner said details of the type of poison used would be released following toxicology tests on the bodies.
