Pavel Datsyuk scored with 43 seconds left in overtime as Detroit snapped a four-game losing streak in dramatic fashion with a 2-to-1 victory over Edmonton.
Nicklas Lidstrom tallied with 24.8 seconds left in regulation to force the extra period as the Red Wings stopped their longest skid of the season. Jimmy Howard gave up an early goal, but was solid the rest of the way with 26 saves in all. Tonight, it’s Detroit at St. Louis.
Last night in the ECHL, the Kalamazoo Wings won on the road, beating Wheeling 4-to-1 in the opener of a 3-game series with the Nailers. The two teams play again tonight and tomorrow at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo.
