PORTAGE (WKZO) - Portage Police say they've heard that someone was impersonating a police officer in the 78-hundred block of Currier Drive around noon Thursday. That's where they say a black female approached an elderly woman in her vehicle and flashed a gold badge, telling the woman she was being investigated for a crime and she needed to give the impersonator a ride to her home, then got in the car.
The victim refused and the suspect fled, later being spotted leaving a parking lot with a black male in a white Chevy Malibu. The impersonator was described as a woman in her forties around 5'3" with a thin build and long hair dressed in all black and carrying a black purse. Several similar impersonations recently took place in Kent County. Police say the suspects are always the ones to approach their victims.
