Ohio State has suspended head coach Jim Tressel for two games for violating NCAA rules after failing to notify the university that he knew some of his players were selling items and memorabilia months before the school learned of the potential violations.
In addition to the suspension and a public reprimand and apology, Tressel will be fined $250,000 and will have to attend a compliance seminar.
Last December, five players, including quarterback Terrell Pryor, were suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season for receiving improper benefits. The five were accused of selling awards, gifts and university apparel.
