Jimmy Howard celebrated his new contract with the Red Wings by making 35 saves last night in Los Angeles and Drew Miller scored twice in Detroit’s 7-to-4 win over the Kings at the Staples Center.
Hours after Howard signed a two-year, 4.5 million dollar extension with the club, the Red Wings fell behind 1-to-0 and then rattled off seven straight goals en route to a sixth consecutive road win. Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk each lit the lamp on the power play, Darren Helm added a short-handed goal and Daniel Cleary also scored for Detroit. Game three of the Red Wing’s five game road trip is tomorrow night at Anaheim.
