LANSING, MI (Metro Source) - State health officials are urging Michigan residents to get vaccinated against measles as the number of cases has hit the highest level since 1996. The Michigan Department of Community Health says so far only one case has been reported in Michigan, but Indiana declared an outbreak in the northern part of that state last week with five cases. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there have been more than 150 cases of measles nationwide this year, up from an average of 50.
