LANSING, MI (Metro Source) - It will soon cost more to buy a Powerball ticket, but the payoff will be sweeter for those who win. Starting January 12th, tickets will double in price from one to two dollars per bet, but jackpots will also double. Next year marks the 20th year for the multi-state lottery game, which Michigan joined nearly 18 months ago. The Mega Millions multi-state game will remain one dollar per bet.
