KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO) -- Anyone who tried to get down Westnedge last night ended up on a long detour after MDOT crews closed the county’s 2^nd busiest roadway so they could do some heavy lifting on improvements to I-94.   MDOT Spokesman Nick Schrippa says they are going to have to do it again tonight from 6PM to 6AM.

There may be lane closures, but it’s the last time during the two year project that they will have to close Westnedge Ave. entirely.

Sometime this week, work crews will be closing Westnedge from Centre to Melody, that’s South of City Hall.  They plan to do a complete rebuild, from water mains, repaving the road, and adding new signals, curbs,  gutters and sidewalks. That job should be done by early September.
