(Lansing, MI) -- Republicans in Michigan are reportedly trying to persuade a former Detroit Red Wing to run against U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow in 2012. The player has not been identified because he has not made a decision. Republicans are looking for a recognizable name to run after former Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land of Byron Center and former U.S. Representative Pete Hoekstra of Holland decided against seeking the office. Republican officials did say the candidate being considered is not Steve Yzerman or Doug Brown.
