PORTAGE, MI (WKZO) -- A second finalist for the job of Interim Portage Superintendant has withdrawn her application, leaving only one candidate.
The Portage Board has dropped plans for site visits on Monday and will instead meet that morning to decide whether to promote their final candidate, Asst. Supterintendant Ric Perry to the top job or go in another direction.
Comstock Supterintendant Sandy Standish says she is looking at another opportunity, but there have been legal questions about her eligibility. She recently accepted early retirement through the state, and that may restrict her ability to take another job right away.
Complicating the issue is the decision of the district’s other Assistant Superintendant Tom Noverr, to leave his job at the end of the month. He has another offer too. That would leave the district very shorthanded at the top.
