KALAMAZOO, Mi (WKZO) - Kalamazoo voters will be asked to decide this November whether or not to make possession and use of less than an ounce of marijuana by adults over 21, the lowest priority of law enforcement personnel. The Kalamazoo Coalition for Pragmatic Cannabis Law turned in over 5900 signatures, only needing 2,579 valid signatures to force the vote.
Kalamazoo City Commissioners will receive an official report tonight that the clerk’s office has validated those petitions. Spokesperson Louis Stocking says it doesn’t decriminalize possession or use...only makes it a low priority for Law Enforcement.
He says it’s another baby step toward legalization.
