LANSING, Mi (WKZO) - The Governor is asking that flags throughout Michigan be lowered to half staff today to honor Army Staff Sgt. Ergin Osman of Harrison Township. He was killed along with five other soldiers, by a roadside bomb on May 26th. It was his 9th deployment. Funeral services were held Sunday. Osman was 35.
PFC Thomas Allers of Plainwell was on his first deployment when he was caught in the blast from an Improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. It happened 3 days before the blast that killed Osman. A public memorial service for Allers will be held at Plainwell High Thursday at 11AM. A private family burial will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. Allers was 23.
