INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WIBQ)  --  The Health and Human Services Department is warning other states, don’t be like Indiana. HHS said yesterday that it’s illegal for Indiana not to fund Planned Parenthood, and warned other states that they’d be in the same boat if the also disallowed Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood. HHS says Indiana is barring those on Medicaid from getting services from the agency. A letter from HHS to the state said quote — Medicaid programs may not exclude qualified health care providers…” Indiana’s law bars Planned Parenthood offices in the state from receiving federal money because it provides abortions, among other services. Republicans denounced the HHS decision saying they’re on solid legal ground.
