The identity has been released of the person who allegedly killed Terre Haute Police Officer Brent Long.
33 year old Shaun M Seeley died at 1812 N. 8th Street on the Northside Monday afternoon. Authorities tried to serve a warrant to Seeley when he started shooting. It’s believed that Officer Long returned fire after being fatally wounded. Long was extracted from the house and taken to the hospital where he was prounounced dead.
His K-9 Shadow was also wounded. Brent Long is the first Terre Haute officer to be killed in the line of duty in 27 years. The Indiana State Police are conducting the investigation at the request of the Terre Haute Police Dept.
Throughout Terre Haute, flags are at half staff in honor of Officer Brent Long. Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett made the proclamation as a mark of respect for Officer Long who gave his life in the line of duty.
