SAN DIEGO, California (Reuters) - Police in San Diego are searching for a suspected robber who made his getaway in a 30-year-old motor home after demanding cash at a local credit union, authorities said on Friday

San Diego Police Department spokesman Detective Gary Hassen said the robber went into a Navy Federal Credit Union in the San Diego area on Tuesday morning and demanded money.

The suspect, described as a white male, about 50 years of age and of a "husky" appearance, then made a getaway in a 1981 Jamboree motor home.

"He walked up to the teller window, made a verbal demand for money ... and drove away in his Jamboree motor home," Hassen said.

The manager of the credit managed to tear off the license plate of the recreational vehicle as it was backing out, although police have yet to nab the suspect.

"We're looking for him around San Diego," Hassen said. "It could be trailer parks, camping areas or at the beach, places where you'd park a motor home."
