Valtteri Filppula scored the go-ahead goal at 5:32 of the third period and Johan Franzen sealed the win in the final minute as the Red Wings beat the Devils 3-to-1 at Joe Louis Arena. Darren Helm staked Detroit to a 1-0 lead early in the first, but New Jersey less than five minutes later.

Jimmy Howard stopped 23-of-24 shots for the Wings, who have traded wins and losses in their last six games while the Devils had their 4 game winning streak snapped.
