For the second time this week, Michigan came close to knocking off an undefeated top five team at Crisler Arena with the Wolverines last night coming up short against second ranked Ohio State, losing 68-to-64 to the Buckeyes.
Michigan, which took third ranked Kansas to overtime before falling to the Jayhawks on Sunday, rallied from a 53-to-41 second half deficit last night, twice cutting the Ohio State lead to two points in the final minute. But the Buckeyes were clutch at the free throw line, where they scored their final 9 points of the game.
The Wolverines have dropped three straight to slip to 1-and-3 in the Big Ten and 11-and-6 overall. Ohio State is 17-and-0 and 4-and-0 in the conference and off to its best start in 59 years.
Darius Morris had a team-high 18 points and eight assists for Michigan while Zack Novak chipped in 16 points. The Wolverines next play at Indiana Saturday night.
