The NHL announced Sunday that the Calgary player who delivered a blind-side hit Friday night that left Detroit defenseman Brad Stuart with a broken jaw will be suspended for six games. Tom Kostopoulos of the Flames roughed up Stuart with a shoulder to the head and while the injury won’t require surgery, Stuart is expected to be out of action six to eight weeks.
The suspension means Kostopoulos will have to forfeit just under 30-thousand dollars of his salary. The Red Wings shoot for their seventh straight road victory tonight at Colorado.
