(Detroit, MI) -- Mayor Dave Bing released the details to an incentive program meant to tempt Detroit police officers to reside in the city. "Project 14," as it is called, allows officers to purchase tax-foreclosed homes in two of the city's most stable neighborhoods for only one thousand dollars a house, with an additional 150 thousand dollars given in federal funds to fix them up. The program will also be available to firefighters at some time in the future. The term "Project 14" is police code for "back to normal."
