KALAMAZOO (WKZO) – As Michigan gains more attention for its premier micro-brews, a law signed by Governor Rick Snyder is allowing for more beer production just in time for the holidays.
The old law put a limit on how much a micro-brewery can brew and still operate a bar or restaurant. Bell’s recently began an expansion facility in Comstock to distribute well beyond the 200-thousand keg limit which would, under the old law, mean closure of their tavern.
However, the new legislation, sponsored by Representative Margaret O’Brien (R-Portage), allows Bell’s Brewery to expand as well as keep the tavern doors open.
Watch above an interview about the process from Bell’s Brewery owner Larry Bell.
