LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Rick Snyder has signed legislation banning domestic partner benefits for unmarried partners of city and school employees, but vetoed a second bill that might have also banned domestic partner benefits offered at some universities.
He says the colleges are constitutionally free to make those choices.
Kalamazoo City Commissioners blasted the bill earlier this week, firing off a resolution and a letter to the Governor urging him to veto both bills.
The ACLU plans to challenge the law as unconstitutional.
