HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - In a decision based solely on the city’s financial situation, the Holland Compensation Commission has recommended that the pay of all City Council members be slashed by 10 percent. Council concurred with that endorsement during last night’s meeting, so Mayor Kurt Dykstra will now earn 85-hundred-50 dollars annually, while the other eight members get 22-hundred-90 dollars. Meeting per diem pay also fell to 54 dollars, while the wage cap was unchanged. The commission meets every two years to set wages for elected officials.
