HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The long arm of the law apparently caught up with a Holland woman and a Chicago man.
According to authorities, the couple were in a car that was pulled over by an Allegan County Sheriff's Deputy on southbound I-196 south of Holland on Monday night. When the officer noticed and seized a plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance, the woman drove off, and a high-speed chase ensued. State police were able to divert the vehicle off of the freeway at the M-89 exit, and stop sticks laid down at 66th Street disabled the car.
As the woman was apprehended, the man dashed into the woods, allegedly stole a car in the area, and drove off into Fennville, where a convenience store clerk spotted him and described the vehicle to Allegan Central Dispatch. It was found at the women's home in Holland, and the man was arrested there without incident.
Investigators say that more than two ounces of cocaine and over 500 dollars in cash were found in the incident. No names were disclosed pending formal charges.
