VIDEO: Groups Hold Forum in Kalamazoo to Convince Motorists No-Fault Law Should Not Be Changed

KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Groups who oppose changes to the state’s no-fault insurance law held a Forum at the Main Library in Kalamazoo Monday evening.

Margaret Kroese with the Hope Network said the auto insurance companies want to give motorists a broader range of choices, many that would not provide sufficient coverage, and might leave drivers subject to lawsuits if the damage they cause exceeds their coverage.

Brian Culver of Kalamazoo, who was left a quadriplegic 17 years ago, said he has been visiting legislative offices and telling them first hand what changes in the no-fault law would mean for victims like him.

They say that it appears there may not be enough votes in the Michigan House to approve the changes being sought by insurance companies, changes they say would be a death sentence for anyone who is unlucky enough to have a catastrophic auto accident.
