UNDATED (WKZO) -- The Michigan Appellate Court has ruled that patient-to-patient sales of medical marijuana is illegal, shutting down dispensaries all over Michigan.
There are about a dozen dispensaries in west Michigan, or at least there were until Wednesday’s ruling.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schutte has sent a letter to all 83 County Prosecutors giving them the green light to prosecute. For patients who depended on the dispensaries for easy access to a supply of the drug...the reactions range from hopelessness to anger.
Rich Thompson with the Michigan Association of Compassionate Care believes the Supreme Court will act next, where they hope their interpretation of the voter initiative will be viewed more favorably.
Card holding patients are still permitted to grow their own and to make arrangements with caregivers but not all can.
