WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) Metro-Ride is proposing to scale back bus service to surrounding communities as an alternative to dropping routes altogether.
Weston's village board voted in March to drop their bus route, saying there weren't enough riders to justify the $106,000 cost.
Yesterday Metro Ride proposed cutting bus service in Rothschild, Schofield and Weston to every-other-hour instead of hourly. And the new service would run down Grand Avenue from Wausau, instead of circular connecting routes.
Before the changes can take place leaders in the surrounding communities would have to approve, and a series of public hearings would need to be scheduled. It's not clear how much money the proposed service changes would save.
