Just because Amy Winehouse has passed away doesn't mean she can't live on through her music -- and her fashion line. Last month, Fred Perry announced it had put its clothing collaboration with the late singer on hold after her sudden and tragic death, and said it would only proceed with manufacturing the remaining collections if her family gave their approval. And it turns out fans and fashionistas won't have to wait too long to see what is sure to be unique collection because the Winehouse family just gave their approval.
The clothes in (former) question are designs that Amy herself completed earlier this year, and the sportswear company said in a statement today, ""After much consideration and with the blessing of Amy's family, Fred Perry has decided to release the AW11 Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry Collection,"" adding that ""Amy was passionate and dedicated to the collaboration and her signature style is clearly stamped across each piece."" Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, also released a statement today about why he and his family decided to approve the launch of these fashion lines explaining, ""When Fred Perry came to us to ask what we would like to do with the new collection it was natural to continue...Amy loved working on both collections and would want them to be made available."" In an act of generosity on behalf of the dearly departed singer, Fred Perry and Mitch announced that Amy's cut of the profits will go toward the charity her father is starting in her name, the Amy Winehouse Foundation. On top of that, the company stated that ""Fred Perry will also make a seasonal donation to the foundation."" Now that's a classy idea that I hope never goes out of style.
