CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WKZO) -- Police in Springfield say it appears that alcohol and excessive speed were the cause of a wreck along Avenue A right around midnight Saturday night.   They estimate the driver was going about 100-miles per hour when he lost control of the car on the curve at Dickman,  sheared off a stop sign, hit a guard rail and flipped, ejecting a 20-year old passenger from the back seat, who died at the scene.

The driver could face multiple charges.  No names have been released.  The 21-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger were both treated and released.
