MARENGO (WKZO) -- Police made a big cocaine bust Wednesday in Calhoun County Wednesday following a traffic stop on I-94 in Marengo Township.
State Police say two vehicles were pulled over around 2:30 p.m. just east of Marshall, one for speeding and the other for following to close behind. An initial search of one of the vehicles turned up two kilograms of cocaine. Then a State Police drug sniffing K-9 revealed an additional eight kilograms of cocaine located in a hidden compartment of the Cadillac Escalade.
The driver, a 31-year-old man from Goshen, Indiana, was lodged in the Calhoun County jail. The Southwest Michigan Enforcement Team said the street value of the suspected cocaine was approximately 250-thousand dollars. The 2003 Cadillac was also seized.
