PARCHMENT (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo Township police have arrested five suspects in an attempted breaking and entering early Monday.

They say a party store in Parchment in the 100-block of Riverview Drive had a window damaged when three juveniles from Kalamazoo tried breaking in around 1 a.m.  That's when a 49-year-old Parchment woman and a 33-year-old Kalamazoo woman came by and decided they were going to help.  Their efforts triggered an alarm and Township police responded, tracking down all five of them.

Police say they were trying to steal cigarettes.  They never made it into the store, despite damaging a window.  Charges are pending.
