Clark Gable III is said to have been driving around with friends and intended to shine the laser at the famous Hollywood sign - but missed.
Cops swooped on Gable and accused him of targeting an L.A. Police Department helicopter, according to TMZ.com.
The star was arrested and booked on a felony. His bail is set at $60,000 (£37,500).
