Lion’s general manager Martin Mayhew calls Detroit’s second round pick in last night’s NFL draft “a stick of dynamite”. Day Two of the draft saw the Lion’s take Boise State wide receiver and kick returner Titus Young with the 44th overall selection. And then Detroit traded up in the second round to land the 57th overall pick, workhorse Illinois running back Mikel Leshoure. The Lion’s rolled the dice on the two picks, overlooking the team’s immediate needs on defense at linebacker and cornerback. The draft wraps up today with rounds four through seven.
Meanwhile, The NFL lockout is back on, for now, after the league's motion for a temporary stay of the order lifting the lockout was granted Friday by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. The league will await a further decision by the same Court on whether or not it will grant a permanent stay on the ruling to lift the lockout.
