The Tigers just can’t beat Mariner’s ace Felix Hernandez as the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner improved to 7-and-0 lifetime against Detroit with Seattle’s 7-to-3 victory last night at Comerica Park.
Phil Coke, who was roughed up in a loss last week at Seattle, suffered the defeat last night, giving up all seven runs over four-and-a-third frames. Brandon Inge hit a two-run double in the fourth for Detroit, which saw its four game winning streak come to an end. Justin Verlander gets the start tonight for the Tigers in game two of the 3-game series with the Mariners.
The White Sox made it two straight over the Yankees with a 3-to-2 win last night in New York while the Cubs lost 4-to-3 to the Rockies at Wrigley Field.
