The Red Wings finally know who they’ll be playing in the next round of the playoffs and it’s the team that eliminated them in the second round last season. Detroit will start the Western Conference semi-finals on the road against San Jose either tomorrow night or Friday.
The N-H-L hasn’t yet announced the schedule. The Red Wings/Sharks matchup was set early today when the Canucks avoided a monumental collapse by surviving against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks.
Chicago was trying to complete a huge comeback after being down in the series 3-games to nothing but Vancouver prevailed in overtime 2-to-1 in Game 7.
In the other Western semi-final, it will be the Canucks against Nashville. In the regular season, San Jose took 3 out of 4 games against Detroit.
