Johan Franzen picked up a goal and one assist as Detroit used a three goal second period to down Phoenix 4-to-2 in game one of their Western Conference quarterfinal series at Joe Louis Arena.
Franzen has recorded a point in 13 straight playoff games. Detroit started slow, trailing 1-to-0 after one period, but by the end of the second period, the Red Wings had a 2-goal lead.
Pavel Datsyuk and Jiri Hudler also tallied goals for the Red Wings, while Jimmy Howard stopped 26 shots. Game two is Saturday afternoon, again at Joe Louis Arena.
