The Red Wing’s scouting staff has its hands full trying to scope out a first round playoff opponent with no fewer than 7 teams still eligible to possibly face off against Detroit when the post season starts next week.

The Red Wings play tonight at Carolina and then wrap up regular season play with a home-n-home series this weekend against the Blackhawks, Friday at Joe Louis Arena and Sunday at the United Center.

Last night in the ECHL, the Kalamazoo Wings lost their playoff opener 2-to-1 at Florida, where game two in the best of 5 quarterfinal series is tonight. Game 3 is Friday night at Wings Stadium.
