KALAMAZOO -- Kalamazoo Township police are investigating a shooting at the Landings apartment complex on West Main early Tuesday afternoon, but they aren’t getting much help, even from the victim. Witnesses told police that three men were arguing, and then fighting in the parking lot when one pulled out a gun and shot one of the others in the leg and left him bleeding on the pavement near the back entrance of the complex.
That man has since been identified as 23-year-old Jarell Kent. The other two were last seen fleeing west on West Main in a blue Dodge Stratus. The victim was uncooperative, and initially refused to give his name.
He was taken to Bronson Hospital for emergency surgery. He is expected to survive.
